English in York is a boutique English language school which has 60 to 80 students on average, and just over 100 at peak season. Our teachers take time to get to know you and understand your individual needs and learning styles. We are all committed to making sure your learning experience is a success and you have a great time socialising with our other students from around the world.
We offer a wide range of courses tailored to your interests to help you improve your English language skills. With plenty of opportunities to speak English as well as practice other skills, you can also have the chance to pursue your academic goals by studying at an English-speaking university of your choice.

Alongside cultural experiences from the past, York is a modern university city with thousands of international students. On average 30 to 40 EiY students go on to study at an English-speaking University each year.
Our school, Peasholme House, is a beautiful 18th century Georgian house in the centre of York with large classrooms for bigger groups. There is a coffee lounge where you can relax and chat to friends between classes, with a large outdoor seated space where you can enjoy the English summer. Wi-Fi and graded readers are available for all our students.
